Copyright is a legal right given by law that grants the
creator of an original work exclusive right for its use and distribution. The works that enjoy
Copyright protection are books, novels, script, software, music, painting, movies, photographs,
drawings, poems, songs, etc. Copyrights are registered under The Copyright Act, 1957 which protects
original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works and cinematograph films and sound recordings
from unauthorized uses. Copyright includes a bundle of the right like the rights of reproduction,
communication to the public, adaptation, and translation of the work.
Copyrights are also
transferrable. If your Copyright is registered then no person can copy your content in any form
since you have the exclusive right to take legal action against that person restricting to copy or
reproduce your unique content.
It should be kept in mind that ideas, procedures or methods
of operation cannot be copyrighted. A separate application has to be made for separate works. It is
not mandatory to get copyright but to protect the original works of the originator, it is advisable
to get your work copyrighted. It motivates the owner to do more work.

1. Identity proof and Address proof of the Applicant if its a Company, Certificate of Incorporation and Address proof is required.
2. Nature of the Applicant’s Interest in the Copyright whether he is the owner or representative.
3. Nature of the work which includes the class & description of the work, the title of the Work, the language of the work and In case of website copyright, give the URL of the website, in case of any publication, date of publication.
